Charge RN Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a charge rn in Texas?
You must first hold an active registered nurse license issued by the Texas Board of Nursing, which requires completing an accredited ADN or BSN program and passing the NCLEX-RN. From there, most Texas hospitals promote charge rns from within after a nurse has built bedside experience in a specific unit. Completing a unit-based leadership course or earning a specialty certification such as CCRN or CEN strengthens your candidacy considerably.
Which companies hire charge rns in Texas?
Employers hiring charge rns in Texas right now include Houston Methodist, Baylor Scott & White Health, and Ascension, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's large integrated health systems and independent regional hospitals both maintain ongoing demand for charge nurses across inpatient units, making it one of the more active states for this role nationwide.
Which Texas cities have the most charge rn jobs?
The cities with the most charge rn openings in Texas are Houston, Sugar Land, and Austin. Houston and Dallas drive the volume through their dense concentrations of large hospital systems and Level I trauma centers, while San Antonio's strong military and veterans' health infrastructure, anchored by institutions like University Health, adds consistent demand in that market.
Are there remote charge rn jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. Charge RN roles are inherently on-site because they involve direct oversight of unit staff, patient assignments, and real-time clinical decisions that cannot be performed remotely. About 0% of charge rn openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those exceptions are typically administrative or telephonic triage charge positions rather than traditional floor charge roles.
How can I get hired as a charge rn in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is landing a staff RN position first and then pursuing internal promotion. Large Texas systems like HCA Healthcare and Baylor Scott and White Health run new graduate nurse residency programs that place candidates in acute care units where charge opportunities arise over time. Building experience in high-acuity settings such as ICU, ED, or step-down units, and earning a unit-relevant specialty certification through the ANCC or AACN, gives you a clear edge when charge openings are posted internally.
Where can I find and apply to charge rn jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to charge rn jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across hospital systems and specialty facilities. Search the roles available, find the ones that match your unit experience and credentials, and apply directly to the employers posting them.
