Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a certified registered nurse anesthetist in Texas?
To work as a certified registered nurse anesthetist in Texas, you must hold an active registered nurse license issued by the Texas Board of Nursing, complete an accredited nurse anesthesia program at the master's or doctoral level, and pass the National Certification Examination administered by the NBCRNA. Texas does not require a separate advanced practice license for CRNAs beyond the RN license and NBCRNA certification, but you must maintain continuing education hours for recertification every four years.
How much do certified registered nurse anesthetists make in Texas?
Certified registered nurse anesthetists in Texas earn a median of about $244,990 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $169,350 for the lowest 10% to over $340,950 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire certified registered nurse anesthetists in Texas?
Employers hiring certified registered nurse anesthetists in Texas right now include Baylor College of Medicine, CHRISTUS Health, and Sound Physicians, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's large independent anesthesia group practices and integrated health systems consistently represent the bulk of openings, particularly in high-volume surgical and trauma settings.
Which Texas cities have the most certified registered nurse anesthetist jobs?
Houston, Fort Worth, and Dallas have the most certified registered nurse anesthetist openings in Texas. Houston and Dallas lead because of their dense concentrations of Level I trauma centers, academic medical centers, and large ambulatory surgery networks, while San Antonio's strong military medical infrastructure and growing civilian health systems drive consistent demand in that market.
Are there remote certified registered nurse anesthetist jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. Certified registered nurse anesthesia is a hands-on clinical role requiring physical presence in the operating room or procedure suite, so the large majority of positions are entirely on-site. About 0% of certified registered nurse anesthetist openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions typically involve supervisory, educational, or quality assurance responsibilities rather than direct patient anesthesia care.
How can I get hired as a certified registered nurse anesthetist in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a new-graduate or residency fellowship at a large Texas health system. UT Health, Baylor Scott and White Health, and Memorial Hermann run structured CRNA transition programs designed for new graduates that pair mentored clinical rotations with direct supervision. Candidates who already hold their NBCRNA certification and Texas RN license, and who are willing to start in lower-acuity procedural settings such as outpatient surgery centers, gain the supervised case volume most facilities require before independent practice.
Where can I find and apply to certified registered nurse anesthetist jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to certified registered nurse anesthetist jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings from employers across the state. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your background and preferred location, and apply directly.
