Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a certified registered nurse anesthetist in New York?
To practice as a certified registered nurse anesthetist in New York, you must hold a registered nurse license issued by the New York State Education Department and earn national certification from the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists after completing an accredited graduate-level nurse anesthesia program. New York does not issue a separate CRNA-specific state license, so your RN license combined with active NBCRNA certification is the required credential for practice in the state.
How much do certified registered nurse anesthetists make in New York?
Certified registered nurse anesthetists in New York earn a median of about $321,030 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $144,900 for the lowest 10% to over $342,480 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire certified registered nurse anesthetists in New York?
Employers hiring certified registered nurse anesthetists in New York right now include NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, NYU Langone Health, and Catholic Health System, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. New York's large academic health systems and regional hospital networks account for the majority of permanent full-time CRNA openings across the state.
Which New York cities have the most certified registered nurse anesthetist jobs?
New York, Bronx, and Kenmore lead New York for certified registered nurse anesthetist openings, driven by the concentration of major academic medical centers and high-volume surgical programs anchoring the New York City metro, while Buffalo and Rochester sustain steady CRNA demand through their own regional health systems and teaching hospitals serving western New York.
Are there remote certified registered nurse anesthetist jobs in New York?
Yes, but they're rare. Certified registered nurse anesthesia is a hands-on clinical role requiring physical presence in the operating room or procedure suite, so true remote positions are uncommon. About 0% of certified registered nurse anesthetist openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those tend to be administrative, education, or informatics roles rather than direct clinical practice.
How can I get hired as a certified registered nurse anesthetist in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is completing a New York-based nurse anesthesia residency or new-graduate fellowship, with programs offered through institutions such as NewYork-Presbyterian and Northwell Health designed specifically for newly certified CRNAs. Candidates with strong ICU backgrounds from roles like critical care RN or flight nurse are well-positioned for these programs. Holding a current New York RN license and active NBCRNA certification before applying gives you a competitive edge over candidates still awaiting credentialing.
Where can I find and apply to certified registered nurse anesthetist jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to certified registered nurse anesthetist jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current New York openings from hospitals, surgical centers, and health systems across the state. Find roles that fit your experience and specialization and apply directly to each employer through the listings.
