Licensure requires completing an accredited radiation therapy program, typically an associate or bachelor's degree, and passing the ARRT certification exam in Radiation Therapy. New York is one of the few states with a mandatory state-level license, so both ARRT certification and a valid New York license are required before you can practice.
How much do radiation therapists make in New York?
Radiation therapists in New York earn a median of about $129,620 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $88,590 for the lowest 10% to over $163,580 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire radiation therapists in New York?
Employers hiring radiation therapists in New York right now include Nicholas H. Noyes Memorial Hospital, Albany Medical Center, and Bassett Healthcare Network, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Which New York cities have the most radiation therapist jobs?

New York City drives the largest share of demand given the concentration of major cancer centers and hospital systems there, while Buffalo and Albany reflect strong regional medical infrastructure anchored by institutions like Roswell Park and Albany Medical Center, which sustain hiring outside the metro core.
Are there remote radiation therapist jobs in New York?
Yes, but they're rare. Radiation therapy is a hands-on clinical role that requires direct patient contact and the operation of treatment equipment on site, so the vast majority of positions are fully in-person. About 0% of radiation therapist openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those tend to be in adjacent functions such as treatment planning review or dosimetry consultation rather than active patient treatment.
How can I get hired as a radiation therapist in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to new-graduate or clinical residency programs run by large New York cancer centers, with Memorial Sloan Kettering and Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center among the institutions that have structured programs for recent graduates. Completing a clinical externship at a New York facility during your training strengthens your application considerably. Candidates transitioning from radiologic technology or nuclear medicine technologist roles are well-positioned, and holding your New York State license before you apply gives you a clear edge over candidates still awaiting licensure.
