Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist Jobs in Maryland: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a certified registered nurse anesthetist in Maryland?
To become a certified registered nurse anesthetist in Maryland, you must first hold an active registered nurse license through the Maryland Board of Nursing, complete an accredited nurse anesthesia graduate program, then pass the National Certification Examination administered by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists. Maryland participates in the Nurse Licensure Compact, so RN licensure from a compact state is recognized, but your CRNA credential and graduate degree must still meet national accreditation standards before Maryland employers will consider you for anesthesia practice.
How much do certified registered nurse anesthetists make in Maryland?
Certified registered nurse anesthetists in Maryland earn a median of about $223,140 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $81,970 for the lowest 10% to over $351,020 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire certified registered nurse anesthetists in Maryland?
Maryland certified registered nurse anesthetist roles are posted by MedStar Health, Gastro Health, and US Anesthesia Partners and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Maryland's concentration of large academic medical centers, regional hospital networks, and freestanding ambulatory surgery centers means CRNA openings appear across a wide range of facility types throughout the state.
Which Maryland cities have the most certified registered nurse anesthetist jobs?
Baltimore, Columbia, and Maryland have the most certified registered nurse anesthetist openings in Maryland. Baltimore leads because it anchors the state's largest hospital systems and academic medical institutions, while Bethesda's proximity to federal medical facilities and specialty surgical centers drives demand, and Annapolis draws openings from the regional health networks serving the greater Chesapeake Bay corridor.
Are there remote certified registered nurse anesthetist jobs in Maryland?
Yes, but they're rare. Certified registered nurse anesthetist work is fundamentally hands-on, requiring direct patient presence in operating rooms, labor and delivery suites, and procedure areas, so remote practice is not a realistic option for the clinical role itself. About 0% of certified registered nurse anesthetist openings tied to Maryland are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions tend to be in anesthesia education, quality consulting, or clinical management rather than direct patient care.
How can I get hired as a certified registered nurse anesthetist in Maryland with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path for a new CRNA in Maryland is applying directly to large academic health systems that run structured new-graduate anesthesia orientation programs, where supervised caseloads and mentorship replace the experience requirement. Johns Hopkins Health System and University of Maryland Medical System both have onboarding tracks designed for CRNAs who are newly certified. Coming from an ICU background at a Maryland hospital strengthens applications significantly, and holding a Doctorate of Nursing Practice alongside your NBCRNA certification signals readiness to hiring managers at competitive Maryland facilities.
Where can I find and apply to certified registered nurse anesthetist jobs in Maryland?
