Dentist Jobs in Maryland: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a dentist in Maryland?
To practice as a dentist in Maryland, you must obtain a license from the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners. Requirements include graduating from a dental school accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation, passing both parts of the National Board Dental Examinations, and passing a clinical licensure examination accepted by the Board. Applicants must also submit a background check and meet continuing education requirements for license renewal.
How much do dentists make in Maryland?
Dentists in Maryland earn a median of about $168,500 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $107,880 for the lowest 10% to over $254,820 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire dentists in Maryland?
Maryland dentist roles are posted by Benevis, DESORT STAFFING, and D4C Dental Brands and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Maryland's mix of large academic health systems, private group practices, and federally qualified health centers creates a broad range of employer types across the state.
Which Maryland cities have the most dentist jobs?
Baltimore, Gaithersburg, and Rockville have the most dentist openings in Maryland. Baltimore anchors the market through its major health systems and dental schools, while the D.C.-adjacent suburbs of Bethesda, Silver Spring, and Rockville draw high volumes of openings tied to the area's dense, professionally employed population and corporate health benefits.
Are there remote dentist jobs in Maryland?
Yes, but they're rare. Dentistry is a hands-on clinical role, so the vast majority of positions require on-site patient care. About 4% of dentist openings tied to Maryland are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions typically involve administrative, consulting, or telehealth triage functions rather than direct clinical work.
How can I get hired as a dentist in Maryland with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a general practice residency, with programs available through the University of Maryland School of Dentistry and MedStar Health in Baltimore. New graduates without clinical hours outside dental school should target associate dentist roles at group practices or federally qualified health centers, which routinely hire early-career candidates. Holding an active Maryland dental license and a completed board examination record gives new applicants a clear edge in the screening process.
Where can I find and apply to dentist jobs in Maryland?
You can find and apply to dentist jobs in Maryland on Migrate Mate, which lists current Maryland openings updated regularly. Search the listings for roles that match your specialty and experience level, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
