How do I get a people operations manager job in San Jose?
Focus your search on North San Jose's tech campuses, the Downtown core, and the Alviso and Brokaw Road corridors where large semiconductor and enterprise software employers are concentrated. Candidates with HRIS implementation experience, knowledge of California employment law, and a background supporting engineering-heavy workforces stand out in this market. Networking through local SHRM Silicon Valley chapter events also opens doors that cold applications rarely do.

San Jose's hiring pool skews heavily toward established technology firms, semiconductor manufacturers, and growth-stage enterprise software companies with sizable domestic and global workforces.
Are there remote people operations manager jobs in San Jose?
Yes, though partially: people operations manager work is moderately remote-friendly for analytical and policy tasks but typically requires on-site presence for employee relations, onboarding, and executive partnership. About 67% of people operations manager openings tied to San Jose are remote or hybrid as of November 2026, reflecting the tech sector's continued flexibility. Strategic HR planning and systems work are the functions most commonly performed remotely in San Jose roles.
How can I get a people operations manager job in San Jose with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in San Jose is moving into a people operations coordinator or HR generalist role at a mid-size tech or semiconductor company, then building toward manager responsibilities. Roles in recruiting operations or HR business partner programs at San Jose's larger employers also serve as strong launch points.
