Personal Trainer Jobs in Utah: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a personal trainer in Utah?
Utah does not require a state-issued personal trainer license, so your path starts with earning a certification from a National Commission for Certifying Agencies-accredited body such as NASM, ACE, or ISSA. Most Utah employers, including major gym chains and hospital-based wellness programs, require at least a high school diploma alongside that certification. A current CPR and AED credential is also a standard hiring requirement across the state.
Which companies hire personal trainers in Utah?
Utah personal trainer roles are posted by Vasa Fitness, Anytime Fitness, and Intermountain Health and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Utah's mix of large commercial gym chains, resort spa and wellness facilities in areas like Park City, and hospital-affiliated fitness centers through systems like Intermountain Health and University of Utah Health creates a broad range of employer types actively recruiting.
Which Utah cities have the most personal trainer jobs?
Saint George, Salt Lake City, and Murray account for the largest share of personal trainer openings in Utah. Salt Lake City anchors the market through its density of commercial gyms, corporate wellness programs, and hospital-affiliated fitness facilities, while Provo's large university population and St. George's retirement and resort communities each generate consistent demand that keeps smaller metros competitive alongside the state's primary hub.
Are there remote personal trainer jobs in Utah?
Yes, but they're rare. About 33% of personal trainer openings tied to Utah are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the hands-on, in-person nature of most training work. The portion of the role most likely to shift online involves virtual coaching, programming delivery, and check-in sessions for clients who supplement in-person training with app-based or video-call accountability.
How can I get hired as a personal trainer in Utah with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is securing a part-time floor staff or fitness associate role at a commercial gym such as a Life Time Fitness or 24 Hour Fitness location in the Salt Lake Valley, where on-the-job mentorship and discounted certification programs are common. Completing a NASM or ACE certification before applying gives you a clear edge, and lateral moves from group fitness instructor or gym front-desk roles frequently lead to training floor opportunities at the same employer.
Where can I find and apply to personal trainer jobs in Utah?
You can find and apply to personal trainer jobs in Utah on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the roles that match your certifications and preferred location, then apply directly to the ones that fit your background and availability.
