Requirements

Education, Training or Certifications Required:

High school diploma or GED. Must hold Maine Pharmacy Technician license. National Pharmacy Technician Certification preferred. If not nationally certified, must show evidence of working towards certification within 6 months of hire and obtain certification within 1 year of hire.

Experience Required:

• One year of hospital pharmacy experience, completion of a pharmacy technician vocational course or be a pharmacy student.
• Medical sciences background preferred, but not required.
• Pharmacy Technician background preferred, but not required.

Special Requirements:

• Ability to work as a team member.
• Possess good communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic pharmacy practices and procedures.
• Knowledge of medications and medical supplies.
• Strong mathematical computation skills.
• Knowledge of record-keeping techniques.
• Ability to pay close attention to detail.
• Basic understanding of computer technology.

Cognitive Requirements:

• Ability to perform under stress.
• Must be organized.

Physical Demands:

• Visual acuity; necessary for computer terminals.
• Some occasional light lifting.
• Standing.

Environment:

Stress level - moderate to high.
Some noise level.
