INTRODUCTION
NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is a 306-bed medical center, providing care to residents of eastern Long Island. The hospital facility is home to the Knapp Cardiac Care Center—an advanced heart disease diagnostic and treatment facility—as well as a modern ambulatory surgical pavilion with specialized services including women's imaging, a sleep laboratory, and bariatric surgery. Our Provisional Level 2 Trauma Center delivers comprehensive and specialized care for patients with traumatic injuries. The Stroke Center at NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is designated by the New York State Department of Health as a Primary Stroke Center, with expert neurologists available to provide treatment 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Additionally, NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk has multiple outpatient sites, including an outpatient wound care center, a hemodialysis center, and various primary care and specialty offices.
Position Summary
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Pharmacy Technician - Full Time - Pharmacy - Pharmacy - Full-Time - Variable Department Shifts (Day).
In this role, the successful candidate under direct supervision of a Pharmacist and following prescribed procedures, assists in processing medications orders by ensuring medications are promptly, accurately, and safely delivered, charged for and credited. Prepares various drugs and parenteral products for delivery to patients and labels pharmaceutical orders. Maintains records related to drug use and charges for drugs. Receives and stores pharmaceuticals from manufacturer and/or distributor.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Technical Skills
- Prepackages oral medications (i.e. tablets, capsules, liquids)
- Prepares parenteral products in batches, documents as required
- Stocks unit dose carts for delivery
- Receives and stores pharmaceuticals from manufacturer and/or distributor
- Replenishes pharmacy floor stock items on Nursing units
- Affixes labels to appropriate storage container
Functional Skills
- Delivers medications to Nursing Units
- Answers telephones in a timely manner
- Assists pharmacist, as needed
- Replenishes pharmacy shelves with overstock from storage areas
- Checks assigned area of pharmacy monthly for outdated drugs
Clerical Skills
- Properly processes invoices and receivers
- Filing of appropriate paperwork for necessary record keeping
- Ensures all pharmacy charges are calculated and routed to appropriate area for billing
- Prepares label for medications
- Maintains records of drugs and solutions prepared for patients

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
To qualify you must have a High school diploma or equivalency and Registered Pharmacy Technician licensure/National Certification (NHA/PTCB) or NYS Pharmacy Intern permit required.
Ability to operate PC, compatible with high school level.
Pharmacy Technician experience required, certification required.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail.
Ability to multi-task and be a team player.
Ability to work and stand for up to 80% of work times, as well as to lift, push, and pull weights of up to twenty pounds.
Basic knowledge of equipment necessary to meet the specific needs of the patient population served by the department.

NYU Langone Hospital-Suffolk provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $62,841.23 - $62,841.23 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
