Most Arizona employers also require or strongly prefer national certification through PTCB or ExCPT. Some employers offer on-the-job training, while others look for completion of a pharmacy technician program at a community college such as Phoenix College or Pima Community College.

Pharmacy technicians in Arizona earn a median of about $47,640 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $39,040 for the lowest 10% to over $60,820 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire pharmacy technicians in Arizona?

Phoenix dominates the distribution given its concentration of hospital systems, retail pharmacy networks, and specialty pharmacies, while Tucson's University of Arizona Health Network and Chandler's growing suburban population drive steady demand in those markets.

Yes, but they're rare. Pharmacy technician work is largely hands-on and requires physical presence for dispensing, compounding, and patient-facing tasks.
