Mid Level Postdoctoral Research Associate Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a mid level postdoctoral research associate job?
Position yourself around research you have led independently, not just contributed to. Highlight published work, grant involvement, and any mentoring of junior researchers or graduate students. Tailor your application materials to show you can manage a project from design through publication with minimal supervision. Committees at this level want evidence of intellectual initiative and methodological depth, so lead with specific outcomes.
Which companies hire mid level postdoctoral research associates?
Companies hiring mid level postdoctoral research associates right now include RTI International, Brookhaven National Laboratory, and Rutgers University, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level comes primarily from research universities, academic medical centers, government laboratories, and life sciences companies with active R&D pipelines.
Are there remote mid level postdoctoral research associate jobs?
Yes, though most postdoctoral research associate roles require on-site or hybrid presence due to lab-based work. About 0% of mid level postdoctoral research associate openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those positions tend to sit in computational biology, data science research, or policy-focused research roles where bench work is not required.
How do I move up to a mid level postdoctoral research associate role?
Progression from entry level to mid level comes from consistently taking on more autonomous work over your first few years. Researchers who advance earn it by independently designing experiments, seeing projects through to publication, and building a record of measurable scientific contributions. Adding grant writing experience, presenting at conferences, and informally mentoring newer lab members signals readiness for the expanded ownership that mid level roles expect.
Which industries hire the most mid level postdoctoral research associates?
Mid Level postdoctoral research associate roles concentrate in Education and Science & Research, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Those sectors drive hiring at this level because they maintain active investigator-led research programs that depend on experienced postdocs to execute and advance core scientific work.
