Entry Level Product Designer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level product designer job?
Entry level product designer roles are won on portfolio quality more than experience. Employers at this level look for candidates who can demonstrate a design process, show real or concept projects that solve user problems, and communicate decisions clearly. Internship work, bootcamp projects, and self-initiated case studies all count. Tailoring your portfolio to the type of product the company builds gives you a concrete edge over candidates with generic samples.
Which companies hire entry level product designers?
Companies hiring entry level product designers right now include Affirm, TikTok, and Avis Budget, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. At this level, hiring comes from a wide range of employers, including fast-growing startups looking for versatile contributors, mid-size tech companies building out their design teams, and larger organizations with structured new graduate programs.
Are there remote entry level product designer jobs?
Yes, though on-site and hybrid roles are still common at this level. About 58% of entry level product designer openings are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, so candidates have real flexibility when searching. Remote roles at the entry level often come from companies that are fully distributed or that have established onboarding processes for junior designers working outside the office.
Are these new grad product designer jobs?
Yes, the roles on this page include new grad, recent graduate, and junior product designer positions. A posting is new-grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, accepts internship or academic project work as a portfolio, and does not require previous full-time employment in the field. If a listing asks for a portfolio but not years of experience, it is generally open to new grad candidates.
Which industries hire the most entry level product designers?
Entry Level product designer roles concentrate in Banking & Financial Services, Technology & Software, and Fintech, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. These sectors drive entry level hiring because they ship products continuously, need designers who can grow with the team, and often have the resourcing to bring on junior talent and develop them through structured feedback and mentorship.
