About The Role

Building a great product is not the same as successfully bringing it to market. Every roadmap conversation, launch, webpage, sales deck, and customer evaluation is an opportunity to tell a clear, consistent story. We’re seeking an Associate Product Marketing Manager to help make Starburst easier to understand, buy, and sell. You will translate technical product capabilities into clear customer value, bring new products and features to market, and connect what we build to the revenue plays that help customers discover, evaluate, and purchase Starburst. This role reports to the Head of Product Marketing within the Product organization. You will work closely with Product Managers and Engineering while collaborating across Marketing and GTM—including content, demand generation, Sales Development Representatives, Account Executives, Solution Architects, RevOps, and enablement. We are building a small, high-impact Product Marketing function, so this is a hands-on builder role. Every PMM must be able to connect product, launch, marketing, and field execution, although successful candidates may bring deeper experience in either product and launches or GTM and sales plays.

As an Associate Product Marketing Manager at Starburst, you will:

- Develop clear messaging and positioning grounded in the customer problem, the value Starburst provides, and what makes our approach different
- Translate complex data and AI infrastructure into simple, credible stories for technical buyers, business stakeholders, sellers, and partners
- Partner with Product Managers early in the development process to build market and customer understanding into roadmap, launch, and go-to-market decisions
- Own product launches from strategy through execution, including target audience, launch tier, core message, customer-facing assets, internal readiness, distribution, and follow-up
- Build the materials customers need to evaluate Starburst, including architectural narratives, demos, proof points, competitive guidance, trial and POC support, documentation inputs, and analyst materials
- Develop revenue plays that connect customer pain to groups of Starburst capabilities, then equip Marketing and the field to execute them consistently
- Create practical seller enablement for AEs, SDRs, and Solution Architects, including playbooks, pitch materials, competitive guidance, discovery questions, and objection handling
- Gather customer, buyer, competitive, and field intelligence through interviews, win/loss analysis, seller engagement, and direct customer conversations
- Measure impact using product adoption, launch engagement, pipeline, revenue-play performance, and qualitative field and customer evidence
- Help establish the operating system for a growing Product Marketing function, including reusable messaging, launch processes, templates, planning cadences, and feedback loops
- Use AI to accelerate research and execution while maintaining human judgment and accountability for everything that ships

Some Of The Things We Look For

- Approximately 3–5 years of experience in product marketing, product, data or business analysis, solutions consulting, sales enablement, GTM strategy, or another relevant role; prior Product Marketing experience is welcome but not required
- The ability to understand a technical product and explain its value in concise, customer-friendly language
- Strong writing, synthesis, presentation, and storytelling skills
- A bias toward execution: you prioritize useful customer-facing work, move quickly through ambiguity, and improve what you ship using market feedback
- Commercial judgment and an interest in connecting product investments to customer adoption, pipeline, and revenue
- The curiosity and technical aptitude to develop fluency in modern data platforms, analytics, AI infrastructure, and the competitive landscape
- Strong cross-functional relationship skills and the confidence to work directly with Product Managers, engineers, marketers, executives, sellers, and customers
- A willingness to seek out real customer and field evidence rather than relying exclusively on internal assumptions
- Ability to travel: This role will require up to 25% in-person travel for new-hire onboarding, team and company offsites, customer engagements, field events, and other business needs

Nice To Have

Strong candidates may bring deeper experience in one of the following areas. We do not expect applicants to have everything listed below.

Product and launches

- Experience as a data engineer, BI or data analyst, solutions engineer, technical marketer, or PMM for a technical infrastructure product
- Familiarity with SQL, data platforms, lakehouses, federated query, Trino, Apache Iceberg, cloud data warehouses, or enterprise AI
- Experience translating roadmaps into differentiated positioning and executing launches that drive evaluation and adoption
- Comfort working closely with Product and Engineering teams on technically detailed subject matter

GTM and sales plays

- Experience in product marketing, GTM strategy, sales enablement, campaign strategy, revenue programs, or customer and market research
- Experience building plays that align product capabilities, marketing campaigns, seller activity, and measurable revenue outcomes
- Familiarity with buyer research, win/loss analysis, competitive intelligence, seller interviews, or pipeline analysis
- Experience working directly with AEs, SDRs, Solution Architects, RevOps, or demand generation teams

The salary range provided for this role reflects the minimum and maximum targets for candidates across all U.S. locations and could be inclusive of variable compensation, such as commission or bonus. All employees receive equity packages (ISOs) and have access to a comprehensive benefits offering. Actual compensation packages are determined based on relevant skills, experience, education and training, and specific work location.
