Product Software Engineer Jobs in Delaware: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a product software engineer in Delaware?
Delaware does not require a state-issued license to work as a product software engineer. Most employers expect a bachelor's degree in computer science or software engineering, though strong candidates from related disciplines and coding bootcamps are regularly hired. Building a portfolio of shipped product work, contributing to open-source projects, and gaining experience with cloud and agile environments are the most direct paths into the role in the Delaware market.
How much do product software engineers make in Delaware?
Product software engineers in Delaware earn a median of about $133,020 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $96,620 for the lowest 10% to over $174,390 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire product software engineers in Delaware?
Delaware product software engineer roles are posted by JPMorganChase, Citi, and Spruce Infotech and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Delaware's concentration of financial services headquarters and life sciences companies means many openings are tied to fintech platforms, data infrastructure, and enterprise product teams.
Which Delaware cities have the most product software engineer jobs?
Wilmington, Newark, and New Castle account for the largest share of product software engineer openings in Delaware. Wilmington leads because of its dense cluster of financial services and corporate headquarters, while Newark benefits from proximity to the University of Delaware and the technology firms that have grown around it, and Dover draws openings from state government technology projects and regional employers.
Are there remote product software engineer jobs in Delaware?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 24% of product software engineer openings tied to Delaware are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how broadly the role translates to distributed work. The parts of the role most commonly done remotely are feature development, code review, and sprint planning, while on-site expectations tend to apply to team leads and roles embedded with hardware or regulated financial systems.
How can I get hired as a product software engineer in Delaware with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is securing an associate or junior software engineer role at one of Delaware's financial services firms or technology consultancies, many of which run structured new-graduate programs. JPMorgan Chase and Incyte both operate early-career technical programs in Delaware. Candidates with no direct product experience often enter through QA engineer or technical support roles and move laterally after demonstrating coding ability.
