Production Control Manager Jobs in Kansas City: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a production control manager job in Kansas City?
Focus your search on Kansas City's aerospace and defense suppliers near the KCI corridor, automotive tier-one manufacturers in the Blue Springs and Lee's Summit areas, and food and consumer goods processors in the Crossroads and west side industrial zones. Candidates with hands-on MRP or ERP system experience and a background coordinating scheduling across multi-shift operations stand out most with local employers. Familiarity with APICS certifications like CPIM also gives a clear edge in this market.
Which companies hire production control managers in Kansas City?
Companies currently hiring production control managers in Kansas City include Burns & McDonnell, Children's Mercy Hospitals & Clinics, and CRB, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Kansas City's hiring base skews toward large manufacturing plants and regional distribution hubs, so roles often come from established industrial employers rather than startups.
Are there remote production control manager jobs in Kansas City?
Yes, but only for a narrow slice of the work, since production control management is fundamentally floor-facing and tied to physical operations. About 30% of production control manager openings tied to Kansas City are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those tend to cover demand planning, reporting, and supplier coordination rather than daily floor supervision. On-site presence is still the norm for most Kansas City manufacturing and logistics employers.
How can I get a production control manager job in Kansas City with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Kansas City is moving up from a production scheduler, materials planner, or inventory analyst role at one of the city's mid-size manufacturing plants, particularly in food processing or automotive supply chain where hiring volume stays consistent. Community college programs through JCCC or UMKC with a supply chain or operations focus, combined with an entry-level coordinator title at a local plant, build the credentials local employers look for before promoting into a manager role.
Which industries hire the most production control managers in Kansas City?
Most production control manager openings in Kansas City sit in Construction & Real Estate, Healthcare & Medical Services, and Consulting & Professional Services, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Kansas City's position as a central freight and manufacturing hub, anchored by its rail network and interstate crossroads, keeps these sectors consistently active for production control hiring.
