About the Company
The French Bread Factory is an established commercial bakery with more than 25 years of experience producing and supplying high-quality bakery and pastry products to institutional, hospitality, and wholesale customers throughout the region.
We are seeking a hands-on, results-oriented Production and Quality Control Supervisor to coordinate daily bakery operations, maintain consistent product quality, and support food safety and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily bakery and pastry production activities, ensuring compliance with production schedules, product specifications, and quality standards.
- Coordinate production personnel, assign responsibilities, and monitor productivity and performance.
- Verify that products consistently meet established standards for appearance, weight, portion size, quality, and presentation.
- Monitor ingredient handling, storage conditions, product traceability, and production documentation.
- Ensure compliance with applicable FDA food safety requirements, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), sanitation procedures, and company policies.
- Support implementation and continuous improvement of food safety programs, including applicable FSMA requirements and SQF standards.
- Identify production deviations, investigate quality issues, document findings, and implement corrective actions.
- Coordinate with Purchasing, Inventory, Quality, and Operations personnel to ensure adequate material availability and minimize waste.
- Monitor production efficiency, ingredient consumption, product losses, and operational costs.
- Train and supervise production employees in quality standards, hygiene, safe food handling, and operating procedures.
- Prepare daily production and quality control reports for management.
- Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, continuous improvement, and food safety.
Required Qualifications
- Previous supervisory experience in commercial bakeries, food manufacturing, or closely related food production environments.
- Working knowledge of bakery production processes, quality control, sanitation, and food safety practices.
- Familiarity with FDA regulations, GMPs, and applicable FSMA requirements.
- Ability to supervise production teams, coordinate multiple priorities, and resolve operational problems.
- Strong organizational, communication, leadership, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work on-site in Sterling, Virginia.
- Proficiency with basic computer applications and production reporting systems.
Mandatory Bilingual Requirement
Full professional proficiency in both English and Spanish is required.
Candidates must be able to speak, read, write, and understand both languages effectively in a professional environment.
Bilingual communication skills will be evaluated during the selection process.
