Tips for Your Corporate Pilot Job Search
Tailor your logbook summary for each application
Hiring managers scan for total flight hours, PIC time, and hours on specific airframes before reading anything else. Lead your resume with a concise logbook summary that puts those numbers front and center, matched to the aircraft type listed in the posting.
Highlight type ratings prominently on your resume
Corporate operators hire by airframe. List every type rating you hold near the top of your resume, not buried in a credentials section. If you hold ratings on multiple large-cabin jets, call that out clearly so screening staff can match you to the right opening fast.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists corporate pilot openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Target flight departments at mid-size private companies
Fortune 500 flight departments attract the most competition. Mid-size private firms with one to three aircraft often post openings with less visibility and move faster through hiring. Search by aircraft type rather than company name to surface those postings.
Prepare a specific answer for the upgrade timeline question
Most corporate interviews include a direct question about when you expect to upgrade from first officer to captain. Have a grounded, honest answer tied to your current hours and type rating, not a vague aspiration. Interviewers use it to gauge self-awareness and commitment.
Negotiate schedule before you negotiate pay
Corporate pilot schedules vary widely, from fractional programs with fixed on-duty rotations to on-call arrangements with no guaranteed days off. Clarify the rotation, standby expectations, and international travel frequency during the offer stage, not after you accept.
Corporate Pilot Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most corporate pilots?
The companies hiring the most corporate pilots right now include Peloton Interactive, Globus Medical, and Life Time, with the largest share of openings in New York, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Flight department size and fleet type vary significantly across these employers, so review each posting for airframe requirements before applying.
How many corporate pilot jobs are remote?
About 28% of corporate pilot openings are fully remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting the hands-on, aircraft-based nature of most roles. The sub-areas most likely to include remote flexibility are simulator instruction, aviation safety management, and flight operations coordination positions that sit alongside but are not purely flight crew roles.
How do you become a corporate pilot?
You start by earning a private pilot certificate, then build hours toward a commercial certificate and instrument rating. From there you add a multi-engine rating and accumulate flight time, often through flight instruction, charter work, or regional airline flying. Once you hold an Airline Transport Pilot certificate and a relevant type rating, you can apply directly to corporate flight department openings.
Can you get hired as a corporate pilot with little experience?
Entry-level corporate roles do exist, typically as a first officer in a two-pilot operation, but they usually require a commercial certificate, instrument rating, and a meaningful base of total flight hours. Fractional ownership companies and charter operators are the most common entry points. Building time as a flight instructor or in Part 135 charter flying is the most direct path to meeting minimum hour requirements for these postings.
What does the corporate pilot interview process look like?
Most corporate pilot interviews include an initial phone or video screen focused on your logbook, type ratings, and schedule availability. A technical interview follows, covering systems knowledge on the specific airframe, emergency procedures, and regulatory questions. Many operators then bring finalists in for a simulator evaluation and a final in-person interview with the chief pilot or flight department director before extending an offer.
Where can I find and apply to corporate pilot jobs?
You can find and apply to corporate pilot jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from across the United States in one place. Search the listings by location or aircraft type to narrow down roles that fit your ratings and experience, then apply directly to each opening that matches.
