Position Description:
The University of Louisville is seeking a board‑certified, or board‑eligible Academic Physiatrist, to join our expanding Department of Neurological Surgery, Division of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. We welcome applicants with interests in general rehabilitation medicine and neurorehabilitation. Clinical opportunities are available in both inpatient and outpatient settings at Frazier Rehabilitation Institute, the U.S. News & World Report–recognized Top Rehabilitation Hospital in Kentucky.
This exceptional academic program offers abundant opportunity for teaching, research, and clinical practice in a collegial environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate clinical, academic, and research interests in general rehabilitation medicine and/or neurorehabilitation as well as the desire to advance toward becoming our PM&R Residency Program Director, with a commitment to educate residents and treat patients. The PM&R Residency Program started over 50 years ago. It is a categorical program with four residents per year. We achieve a 100% match rate each year with all our graduating residents securing the fellowship of their choice. Essential Functions:
- Assesses the physical status of clients through interview, health history and physical examination and both inpatient and outpatient services.
- Formulates treatment plans for health problems and follow-ups.
- Writes prescriptions for medication, blood tests and routine diagnostic and follow-up studies and therapeutic measures.
- Evaluates the quality of care provided and recommends changes for improvement.
- Shares clinical expertise with personnel.
- Documents and reports care in an accurate and timely manner.
Other Functions:
- Maintain compliance with all company policies, procedures and standards of conduct.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education:
- Medical Doctorate degree
Experience:
- Epic EMR experience is preferred.
- Strong computer and keyboarding skills
Licensure:
- Physician license for state of Kentucky
Certification:
- ACLS/BLS Certification
