Education Jobs in Kentucky: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a education in Kentucky?
To work as a teacher or licensed educator in Kentucky, you must hold a certificate issued by the Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board, which oversees all educator licensing in the state. Candidates typically complete a state-approved educator preparation program, pass the required Praxis exams for their content area and grade level, and apply through the EPSB's online portal. Those with out-of-state licenses may apply for reciprocal certification if their credentials meet Kentucky's requirements.
Which companies hire educations in Kentucky?
Companies currently hiring educations in Kentucky include Fayette County Public Schools, Eastern Kentucky University, and University of Kentucky, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Kentucky's largest public school districts, state universities, and community and technical colleges are consistently among the most active education employers in the state.
Which Kentucky cities have the most education jobs?
Lexington, Richmond, and McKee have the most education openings in Kentucky. Louisville leads because Jefferson County Public Schools is the state's largest district and the University of Louisville adds higher education volume, while Lexington's market is anchored by the University of Kentucky and Fayette County Public Schools, and Bowling Green's openings reflect Western Kentucky University and a fast-growing regional district.
Are there remote education jobs in Kentucky?
Yes, but they're relatively limited, since most education roles in Kentucky require in-person instruction or on-site student support. About 67% of education openings tied to Kentucky are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those tend to be concentrated in curriculum development, instructional design, education technology coordination, and online or virtual school teaching positions.
How can I get hired as a education in Kentucky with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path for candidates without classroom experience is applying for a paraeducator or instructional assistant position at a Kentucky public school district, which typically requires only a high school diploma or some college credit and provides direct exposure to the classroom. Jefferson County Public Schools and Fayette County Public Schools both run pathways that support paraprofessionals in pursuing a teaching certificate while working. Completing a Kentucky-approved educator preparation program and passing the required Praxis exams gives candidates a strong edge when moving from support roles into certified teaching positions.
Where can I find and apply to education jobs in Kentucky?
You can find and apply to education jobs in Kentucky on Migrate Mate, which lists current Kentucky openings across school districts, higher education institutions, and early childhood programs throughout the state. Search the listings for roles that match your certification level and subject area, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
