Project Accountant Jobs in Phoenix: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a project accountant job in Phoenix?
Focus your search on Phoenix's construction and real estate development sectors, which generate the highest volume of project accountant openings locally. General contractors, commercial developers, and engineering firms clustered in Midtown and along the Camelback Corridor hire consistently. Candidates with experience in job costing, AIA billing, or construction ERP systems like Sage 300 or Viewpoint stand out in Phoenix's project-driven market.
Which companies hire project accountants in Phoenix?
Employers hiring project accountants in Phoenix right now include Clayco, Gilbane, and Skanska, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Phoenix's hiring pool includes large general contractors, commercial real estate firms, and infrastructure companies with active project pipelines in the metro area.
Are there remote project accountant jobs in Phoenix?
Yes, though availability depends on the role, since project accountants in construction and field-based industries are often required on-site for job cost oversight. About 44% of project accountant openings tied to Phoenix are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with remote options more common in corporate finance and professional services than in construction.
How can I get a project accountant job in Phoenix with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Phoenix is through an accounts payable or junior cost accountant role at a mid-size general contractor or commercial developer, where hands-on exposure to job costing and subcontractor billing translates quickly into a project accountant title. Phoenix-area community colleges and ASU also produce graduates who move into these roles via internships with local construction and engineering firms.
Which industries hire the most project accountants in Phoenix?
Phoenix project accountant roles concentrate in Construction & Real Estate and Staffing & Recruiting, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Phoenix's sustained population growth and large-scale infrastructure investment have kept construction and real estate development as the dominant drivers of local project accountant demand.
