Senior Level Project Controls Manager Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a senior level project controls manager job?
Employers at this level look for demonstrated ownership of project controls functions across the full project lifecycle, not just task execution. Candidates who can show they have led cost forecasting, schedule integrity, and change management on complex, high-value programs stand out. Experience mentoring junior analysts and presenting controls data to executive stakeholders gives a strong edge at the senior tier.
Which companies hire senior level project controls managers?
Companies hiring senior level project controls managers right now include Granite Construction, Fluor, and Cushman & Wakefield, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Hiring at this level tends to come from large engineering and construction firms, capital-intensive infrastructure owners, defense contractors, and energy companies managing multi-phase project portfolios.
Are there remote senior level project controls manager jobs?
Yes, though availability varies by industry and project phase. About 29% of senior level project controls manager openings are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with fully remote roles more common in program reporting and analytics functions than in field-intensive construction or capital project delivery environments.
What makes a project controls manager role senior level?
Senior level roles carry full ownership of a project controls function rather than contributing to one. That means setting controls strategy, overseeing cost and schedule baselines, leading risk and change management processes, and mentoring project controls staff. Senior professionals are also expected to interface directly with project directors and clients, translating controls data into decisions at the program level.
Which industries hire the most senior level project controls managers?
Senior Level project controls manager roles concentrate in Consulting & Professional Services, Construction & Real Estate, and Technology & Software, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. These sectors drive demand because they manage large, long-duration capital programs where rigorous cost and schedule controls are tied directly to financial performance and regulatory obligations.
