Job Description Overview:
The ASUS Robotics & AI Center is seeking a Technical Project Management Engineer to join our global research and development team. This role owns the planning, execution, and delivery of cross-functional programs spanning UAVs and other robotics platforms, coordinating work across our Boston and Taipei offices and across hardware, software, research, and field testing.
We are looking for a disciplined program leader who can bring structure to complex technical work without slowing it down, who is comfortable driving accountability across teams they do not directly manage, and who can translate engineering progress into clear reporting for internal leadership and external partners. The ideal candidate has managed programs that combine hardware and software delivery, has operated in environments with formal milestone and reporting obligations, and thrives in a fast-moving research and development setting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Own end-to-end planning and execution for assigned programs, including scope definition, scheduling, resourcing, dependency management, and delivery milestones.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams spanning software engineering, hardware engineering, research, and operations across various U.S. and Taipei offices.
- Maintain and communicate program status, risks, issues, and mitigation plans to engineering leadership and executive stakeholders.
- Run recurring program cadences, including planning sessions, program reviews, and retrospectives.
- Track and manage program deliverables, documentation, and reporting obligations associated with customer and partner commitments.
- Coordinate field testing, demonstrations, and deployment logistics in partnership with engineering and operations teams.
- Manage relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and external partners, including statements of work tracking and delivery acceptance. Identify process gaps and drive improvements to how programs are planned, tracked, and reported across the organization.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong working knowledge of project and program management practices, including Agile, stage gate, and hybrid approaches, with the judgment to apply the right one to the situation.
- Proficiency with project tracking and collaboration tools such as Asana, Jira, Confluence, or equivalent.
- Sufficient technical fluency to follow engineering workflows, including source control, code review, and release processes, and to interpret engineering status independently.
- Demonstrated ability to manage programs that combine hardware, software, and integration or field testing workstreams.
- Ability to influence and drive accountability across teams without direct reporting authority.
- Comfortable operating across time zones and cultures, including with a Taiwan-based engineering organization.
- Familiarity with contract-driven program environments, including milestone-based delivery, formal reporting requirements, and change control, is a plus.
- Ability to work confidently in a rapidly changing, fast-paced and results-oriented corporate environment where a high degree of flexibility is required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Flexibility to attend virtual meetings with the Taiwan-based team at least two nights per week.
Required Qualifications:
Years of Education
- Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, computer science, business, or related field.

Working Conditions:

- 3 days in office / 2 days work from home
- Requires sitting, operating a computer keyboard, telephone and other office equipment for extended periods of time

Project Engineer Jobs in Boston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a project engineer job in Boston?
Focus your search on Boston's strongest hiring sectors: life sciences and biotech in the Longwood Medical Area and Kendall Square, construction and real estate development in the Seaport District, and infrastructure across the Greater Boston area. Candidates who can show familiarity with Boston's dense urban construction environment, public-private development projects, or regulated industries like pharma and medical devices tend to stand out. Networking through local engineering societies and connecting with general contractors active on Boston's waterfront redevelopment gives you a genuine edge.
Which companies hire project engineers in Boston?
Employers hiring project engineers in Boston right now include Skanska, Affiliated Engineers, and GFT, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Boston's market is especially active among large construction firms, life sciences developers, and engineering and professional services firms with major regional offices in the Seaport and Back Bay.
Are there remote project engineer jobs in Boston?
Yes, though remote availability depends heavily on the type of work. Roles tied to active construction sites, lab builds, or infrastructure projects are almost always on-site, while planning, design coordination, and client-facing roles can be hybrid. About 88% of project engineer openings tied to Boston are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with most of those concentrated in design, program management, and technology-adjacent engineering roles rather than field-based positions.
How can I get a project engineer job in Boston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Boston is through co-op or internship programs, which local employers in construction, infrastructure, and life sciences treat as a direct pipeline to full-time hires. Northeastern University's co-op network and MIT's ties to Kendall Square biotech give early-career candidates real project exposure that Boston hiring managers recognize. Entry-level titles like assistant project engineer or junior engineer at general contractors active on Seaport or transit projects are common first roles, and a background in MEP systems, construction management, or process engineering makes candidates especially competitive locally.
Which industries hire the most project engineers in Boston?
Most project engineer openings in Boston sit in Consulting & Professional Services, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Boston's concentration of world-class research hospitals, biotech campuses, and large-scale urban development projects means those sectors consistently generate demand for project engineers who can manage complex, regulated, and fast-moving builds.
