Our Environmental and Infrastructure Sector delivers comprehensive environmental solutions to meet the full project lifecycle needs of clients in electric transmission, renewable energy, oil & gas, and transportation. With one of the largest multimedia air and land permitting and compliance teams in the country, we support client success in manufacturing and industry, liquids delivery and processing, natural gas storage and delivery, power generation and delivery, and transportation projects.
We are seeking a Project Manager - Environmental Permitting to join our successful and growing Planning, Permitting, and Licensing Practice in Michigan. Responsible for supporting development, implementation, maintenance, and improvement of key permitting programs to support quality and strategic growth plans. This successful candidate is passionate about their work, driven by intellectual curiosity, and strives to work collectively to best serve our clients and help create the future of our communities in meaningful and sustainable ways. They will be involved in a wide variety of energy-related projects including electric transmission/distribution, natural gas pipeline, and renewable energy (wind/solar) generation projects and will have demonstrated prior experience with Federal and State siting and permitting and environmental surveys.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver responsive, high quality environmental/consulting services to TRC's key clients.
- Budget, scope and schedule development, monitoring and adherence for tasks and projects managed.
- Management and development of technical junior staff.
- Profitably deliver and execute projects with high quality and high client satisfaction.
- Quality Analysis/Quality Control of key deliverables related to projects and tasks managed as well as projects and tasks managed by others. Responsible for implementation of firm quality procedures at project and task levels.
- Preparation of technical documents and reports.
- Maintain and grow existing client accounts.
- Mentor other environmental staff.
- Work with project managers on strategic pursuits, including proposal development and client meetings.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities.
- Review RFQs/RFPs and prepare proposals. Manage projects and proposals
- Develop permitting strategies and schedules, participate in public meetings, negotiate with regulatory agencies, coordinate field work, direct and support other technical staff, interact in the field with clients, stakeholders and contractors, and manage budgets and invoicing.
- Perform wetland and waterway delineations and threatened and endangered species habitat and species surveys as needed.
- Preparation of environmental permit applications at the federal, state, and local levels.
- Will serve as main point of contact for regulatory agencies.
- Review of environmental and municipal regulations to identify compliance requirements.
- Development of agency consultation packages and coordination with local and regional agencies.
- Abide by Company policies and procedures.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
- Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree in environmental science, natural resources, biology, ecology, or related field, and 5 to 10 years of post-degree environmental permitting experience in Michigan and surrounding states.
- Experience managing transmission and distribution line projects, oil & gas pipeline projects, and renewable energy projects in Michigan and surrounding states.
- Experience with Federal and State wetlands and waterway permitting.
- Experience with Federal and State Threatened and Endangered Species regulations.
- Experience with Conditional Use and Special Use permitting.
- Excellent verbal communication and technical communication skills are mandatory.
- Ability to maintain a positive attitude working under aggressive schedules.
- The candidate must have a strong ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.
Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
