Job Description
The University of Indianapolis invites applications for a Assistant Professor of Practice in Sport Management position in the Department of Kinesiology, Health, and Sport Sciences (KHSS) beginning August 2026. UIndy Sport Management is a COSMA accredited program. We are looking for an individual with the ability to function well within a collegial, collaborative work environment and who has the desire and expertise to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Potential teaching duties include introduction to sport management, sport sales, sport administration, legal issues, and/or additional courses in the candidate’s area of specialization as well as internship supervision. Additional duties include mentoring and advising students, assisting in increasing the visibility of the UIndy Sport Management undergraduate and graduate programs, and service to the university, college, department, and community. This is a full-time, nine-month faculty position with date of August 2026
Position requirements: A Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Sport Management, Sport Administration or a related field preferred. ABD, JD, and Master’s prepared will be considered. Applicants should have a strong commitment to excellence, a passion for teaching, and the ability and desire to contribute through academic service and scholarship. Preference will be given to applicants with university level teaching experience and a record of involvement with the sports industry, or closely related area, and those with a passion for connecting our students with local and regional sport organizations. Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

REQUIREMENTS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience
- Evidence of successful university teaching experience.
- Preference will be given to applicants with a record of involvement with the sports industry, or closely related area, and those with a passion for connecting our students with local and regional sport organizations.
Education
- A Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Sport Management, Sport Administration or a related field. JD and ABD will be considered.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Teach undergraduate courses and/or graduate in Sport Management and prepares students for professional employment.
- Advise a minimum of 30 students per year
- Course responsibilities may include undergraduate introduction to sport management, sport sales, sport administration, legal issue, as well as internship supervision. Additional courses in the candidate’s area of specialization may be considered.
- Assist in increasing the visibility of the UIndy Sport Management undergraduate and graduate programs
- Service to the university, college, department, and community
- Demonstrate a commitment to excellence and a passion for teaching.
- Follow the guidance and direction of supervisor(s).
- Demonstrate respectful, ethical, responsible behavior.
- Abide by the University’s policies, procedures, and rules.
- Perform employee responsibilities as detailed in employee handbooks and policies.
- Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance and punctuality.
- Other duties, including special projects, as required or assigned.
