Position Overview
The Project Manager serves as the main contact for clients, engineers, and vendors. They coordinate internal teams like detailing, estimating, and shop fabrication with external field erection crews. Their main goal is to deliver projects safely, on schedule, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Planning & Coordination: Review contracts, blueprints, and architectural drawings. Set project schedules, track milestones, and manage material procurement.
- Fabrication & Shop Oversight: Coordinate with the fabrication shop to set production priorities, monitor progress, and review shop drawings.
- Financial & Cost Management: Create project budgets, forecast costs, and approve change orders or invoices.
- Communication & Management: Act as the primary point of contact for owners, general contractors, and subcontractors. Lead project meetings and resolve site issues.
- Safety & Quality Control: Ensure all work complies with industry standards (such as AISC and ASTM guidelines) and enforce job-site safety plans.
- Experience: 3 to 5+ years of project management or estimating experience in structural steel fabrication or industrial construction.
- Technical Skills: Ability to read complex structural and shop drawings. Familiarity with industry standards (AISC, NISD, ASTM).
- Software Proficiency: Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Project), Bluebeam, and 3D modeling or detailing software (like Tekla or SDS/2).
