Quality Assurance Analyst Jobs in North Carolina: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a quality assurance analyst in North Carolina?
North Carolina does not require a state-issued license to work as a quality assurance analyst, so the path centers on education and credentials. Most employers expect at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or engineering. From there, earning the ISTQB Foundation Level certification or the Certified Software Tester credential strengthens your candidacy considerably. Graduates of programs at NC State, UNC Charlotte, or community colleges in the Research Triangle often move directly into entry QA roles with local technology and life sciences firms.
How much do quality assurance analysts make in North Carolina?
Quality assurance analysts in North Carolina earn a median of about $100,390 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $61,190 for the lowest 10% to over $148,710 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire quality assurance analysts in North Carolina?
Employers hiring quality assurance analysts in North Carolina right now include Food Lion, NV5, and MENTOR TECHNICAL, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. North Carolina's concentration of pharmaceutical, fintech, and enterprise software companies means QA demand is spread across both large corporate campuses in the Research Triangle and growing technology hubs in Charlotte.
Which North Carolina cities have the most quality assurance analyst jobs?
Charlotte, Durham, and Raleigh lead North Carolina for quality assurance analyst openings. The Research Triangle anchors the bulk of demand, driven by the dense cluster of technology, life sciences, and university-linked employers in Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill, while Charlotte's growing fintech and banking sector generates its own consistent QA hiring pipeline.
Are there remote quality assurance analyst jobs in North Carolina?
Yes, and more than most fields. Quality assurance analyst work is largely desk-based and tool-driven, making it well suited to remote and hybrid arrangements. About 28% of quality assurance analyst openings tied to North Carolina are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how broadly distributed QA teams have become across the state's technology and financial services industries. Test automation and documentation-focused roles tend to carry the highest share of fully remote postings.
How can I get hired as a quality assurance analyst in North Carolina with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a junior QA tester or QA associate role, which many North Carolina technology and life sciences employers fill with recent graduates or career changers. Companies like Lenovo and SAS Institute in the Research Triangle, as well as regional fintech employers in Charlotte, periodically hire for associate QA positions that provide structured onboarding. Moving laterally from a business analyst, technical support, or help desk role is also common. Building a portfolio of documented test plans and earning the ISTQB Foundation Level certificate before applying gives candidates without formal QA experience a concrete edge.
Where can I find and apply to quality assurance analyst jobs in North Carolina?
You can find and apply to quality assurance analyst jobs in North Carolina on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers actively hiring in the state. Search the listings, find roles that match your experience and location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
