Quality Assurance Analyst Jobs in Washington: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a quality assurance analyst in Washington?
Most quality assurance analyst roles in Washington require a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, or a related field. Washington does not issue a state license specific to quality assurance analysts, so employers emphasize certifications such as ISTQB or ASQ's Certified Quality Engineer alongside demonstrated testing experience. Building a portfolio of automated test scripts and contributing to open-source projects strengthens a Washington application considerably.
How much do quality assurance analysts make in Washington?
Quality assurance analysts in Washington earn a median of about $128,480 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $74,180 for the lowest 10% to over $202,730 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire quality assurance analysts in Washington?
Employers hiring quality assurance analysts in Washington right now include Amazon, Providence, and State of Washington, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Washington's concentration of technology headquarters and aerospace manufacturers means QA roles here often require both software testing skills and familiarity with regulated-industry compliance standards.
Which Washington cities have the most quality assurance analyst jobs?
Seattle, Redmond, and Olympia have the most quality assurance analyst openings in Washington. Seattle and the Eastside corridor of Bellevue and Redmond drive the majority of postings because Microsoft, Amazon, and a dense cluster of software and cloud companies are headquartered there, while Everett and Renton generate aerospace and defense QA demand anchored by Boeing's manufacturing and engineering operations.
Are there remote quality assurance analyst jobs in Washington?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 43% of quality assurance analyst openings tied to Washington are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the role's desk-based, screen-and-tool-driven nature. Automated testing, test planning, and bug triage are the functions most commonly performed fully remote, while roles involving hardware validation or on-site compliance audits typically require an in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a quality assurance analyst in Washington with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is landing a QA technician or junior tester role at a mid-size Washington software company where structured mentorship is more accessible than at large corporations. Candidates without experience should pursue an ISTQB Foundation certification, build a GitHub portfolio with Selenium or Pytest automation scripts, and target associate QA or test analyst postings at companies in the Puget Sound tech corridor. Adjacent roles in technical support, data entry validation, or manual UAT contracting at Washington aerospace suppliers can also provide a bridge into full-time QA work.
Where can I find and apply to quality assurance analyst jobs in Washington?
