INTRODUCTION
Quality Assurance Analyst, Workday
Quality Analysis & Change Management
Full-time, Exempt Regular, Pay Grade 2.2
Location: Hybrid (Onsite presence in Adelphi, MD required at minimum 2-3 days a week)
The Quality Assurance Analyst is responsible for establishing and executing the QA strategy for enterprise systems such as Workday, as well as testing integrations between Workday, homegrown applications (developed in Node.js or similar technologies), and other third-party platforms. This role provides hands-on QA support while focusing on enhancing QA processes. The analyst will define quality standards, develop test plans, design and execute integration and functional testing. Reporting to the Sr. Director - Analysis, Change & Quality, the Quality Assurance Analyst ensures Workday and integrated systems deliver accurate, reliable, and high-quality releases that are delivered in a timely manner.
Duties & Responsibilities:
QA Approach & Methodology
- Serve as the QA expert for Workday and integrated applications.
- Leverage the central QA SOPs to develop, expand, and enhance QA processes, standards, documentation, and governance for Workday and integrated systems.
- Develop and execute comprehensive test strategies for Workday, Node.js-based custom applications, and third-party integrations.
- Develop detailed and scalable test plans, test scenarios, and test scripts aligned with business processes.
- Ensure thorough defect logging, triage, and verification. Participate in triage and validation of production issues.
- Coordinate cross-team testing efforts, specifically with the integrations team to ensure adequate coverage and minimize bottlenecks.
- Execute functional, regression, and end-to-end testing for Workday modules (HCM, Finance, Payroll, etc.), custom applications built in Node.js or similar backend frameworks, and marketplace applications for Workday.
- Conduct comprehensive systems integration testing across Workday, internal systems, and external platforms.
- Test file-based, point-to-point, SOAP, and REST API integrations, including middleware components.
- Validate data accuracy, transformations, and mapping between source (Workday or internal systems) and target systems.
- Collaborate with integration developers and vendors to troubleshoot integration issues.
- Apply AI tools to optimize QA processes, enhance output quality, and accelerate deliverable completion.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with business analysts, developers, architects, and Workday/HRIS business teams to ensure requirements are clear and testable.
- Review functional and technical specifications, integration designs, and Workday business processes with non-technical end users of the system for clarity and testability.
- Conduct peer reviews of test plans, scripts, and provide demos to business / UAT users, scrum team, and your manager.
- Provide input during sprint planning, refinement, and design discussions.
- Communicate risks, test status, and potential gaps to leadership and project / platform / scrum teams.
- Partner with Product Owners, Developers, HRIS teams, Scrum Masters, and Architects to deliver high-quality releases.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and provide clear communication on testing progress, risks, and dependencies.
- Support release readiness and provide QA sign-off for production deployments.
- Oversee and drive UAT, facilitating testing activities, and partnering with business stakeholders to gain a deep understanding of their workflows. Ensure adherence to the UAT framework.
- Partner with business, development, and operations teams to resolve production issues, validate changes, and maintain system quality.
- Provide timely updates via dashboards, written or oral communication to your manager and Scrum team, highlighting risks, successes, and opportunities.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent field.
Experience
- A total of 5+ years of QA experience testing enterprise applications.
- At least 3 years of hands-on QA experience testing Workday configurations, business processes, integrations, and exposure to concepts of automation frameworks.
- Solid experience testing custom-built applications, preferably developed in NEXT.js or similar technologies.
- Strong proficiency in integration testing across file-based, API, middleware, and third-party interfaces. Experience using API testing tools such as Postman.
- Proven data validation experience between source and target systems.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced Agile environment and manage multiple simultaneous tasks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
- High attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and analytical thinking.
- Be able to influence and be the driver of quality.
- Experience using Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar tools for test management and defect tracking.
- Open to working on shifting priorities and in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrates a team-oriented mindset and a curious attitude.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience
- Experience with Workday Studio, Core Connectors, EIBs.
- Experience with automation frameworks, Playwright using TypeScript to create UI and API based test suites.
- Strong experience developing automated test suites for Workday using proprietary tools such as Opkey or Kainos Smart.
- Experience with automation within CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience using LLM-enabled tools to accelerate test automation.
- Background in HRIS, ERP, or enterprise application testing.
- Experience with MuleSoft or similar integration platforms.

$80,000.00 - $95,000.00
