Who's Hiring

Project Manager Jobs in Portland: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a project manager job in Portland?
The strongest path into Portland's project manager market is targeting its three most active sectors: construction and infrastructure, healthcare systems, and technology. Firms along the South Waterfront and in the Pearl District hire regularly, and candidates with PMP certification or Agile credentials stand out locally. Tailoring your application to Portland-specific industries, such as sustainable development or health system expansion, gives you a real edge over generalist applicants.
Which companies hire project managers in Portland?
Portland project manager roles are posted by Cummins, Slayden, and CareOregon and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Portland's employer mix leans toward regional health systems, civil engineering and construction firms, utilities, and mid-size technology companies, reflecting the city's infrastructure growth and healthcare expansion.
Are there remote project manager jobs in Portland?
Yes, though it depends heavily on the sector: technology and software-focused project manager roles are frequently remote, while construction, facilities, and on-site operational roles almost always require physical presence. About 67% of project manager openings tied to Portland are remote or hybrid as of September 2026. The most remote-friendly work tends to come from Portland's technology and professional services employers.
How can I get a project manager job in Portland with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Portland is targeting coordinator or assistant project manager roles at construction firms, regional health systems like Oregon Health and Science University, or mid-size technology companies in the Pearl District. Many Portland employers promote internally from project coordinator positions, making those roles a practical stepping stone. Earning a CAPM certification and volunteering for Portland nonprofit construction or community development projects builds a local portfolio that resonates with hiring managers here.
