Project Manager Jobs in Philadelphia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a project manager job in Philadelphia?
Focus on Philadelphia's dominant hiring sectors: health systems like Temple Health and Jefferson, financial institutions along Market Street, universities in University City, and the growing life sciences corridor around the Navy Yard and Pennsylvania Biotechnology Center. Candidates with PMP certification, experience in regulated industries, or a background in healthcare IT stand out locally. Networking through the PMI Delaware Valley Chapter also puts you in front of hiring managers before roles are posted.
Which companies hire project managers in Philadelphia?
Employers hiring project managers in Philadelphia right now include HNTB Corporation, Colliers Engineering & Design, and HDR, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Philadelphia's hiring mix skews toward large health networks, regional banks and insurers, universities, and mid-size technology and consulting firms embedded in the city's core business districts.
Are there remote project manager jobs in Philadelphia?
Yes, though availability depends heavily on the industry. About 70% of project manager openings tied to Philadelphia are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with the highest share in technology consulting and software. Healthcare and construction project management roles in Philadelphia tend to require an on-site presence, while program management and PMO roles in financial services are more likely to offer hybrid schedules.
How can I get a project manager job in Philadelphia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Philadelphia is a coordinator or associate project manager role inside a health system or university, where structured onboarding and internal promotion are common. Jefferson Health, Penn Medicine, and Drexel University regularly bring in junior coordinators who move into full PM roles. A CAPM certification and any hands-on experience with project tracking tools like Jira or Smartsheet will set you apart for these entry-level openings.
Which industries hire the most project managers in Philadelphia?
Most project manager openings in Philadelphia sit in Consulting & Professional Services, Education, and Science & Research, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Philadelphia's concentration of major academic medical centers, a deep insurance and asset management sector anchored in Center City, and an expanding life sciences and biotech cluster at the Navy Yard together make it one of the stronger project management markets on the East Coast.
