Mid Level Proposal Manager Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a mid level proposal manager job?
Position yourself as someone who has owned proposals independently, not just supported them. Highlight specific wins: proposals you led from kick-off to submission, win rates you contributed to, and cross-functional teams you coordinated. Tailor your resume to show scope of responsibility, not just tasks completed. Employers at this level want evidence you can manage a pursuit with minimal hand-holding.
Which companies hire mid level proposal managers?
Companies hiring mid level proposal managers right now include DLR, HDR, and GHD, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Government contractors, defense primes, consulting firms, and professional services companies tend to hire most actively at this level, where proposal volume and bid complexity justify a dedicated mid-level practitioner.
Are there remote mid level proposal manager jobs?
Yes, with strong availability. About 67% of mid level proposal manager openings are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, making this one of the more flexible roles in business development. Proposal work is largely document-driven, which suits distributed teams, though some employers require on-site presence during final submission pushes or orals preparation.
How do I move up to a mid level proposal manager role?
The path from entry level centers on accumulating solo ownership. Early on, most proposal coordinators support senior writers or managers. Over time, taking on full section ownership, then full proposal ownership, then coordinating contributors across departments signals readiness for mid level. Building a record of on-time submissions, measurable win contributions, and comfort with compliance requirements like FAR or Shipley methodology accelerates that progression.
Which industries hire the most mid level proposal managers?
Mid Level proposal manager roles concentrate in Consulting & Professional Services, Construction & Real Estate, and Education, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. These sectors generate high volumes of competitive bids, RFPs, and government solicitations that require dedicated proposal professionals who can own the process and manage contributors without constant senior oversight.
