Entry Level Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level psychiatric nurse practitioner job?
Employers hiring at the entry level look for candidates who have completed a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner program, hold or are pursuing board certification, and can point to supervised clinical hours in behavioral health settings. Highlighting rotations in inpatient psychiatry, community mental health, or substance use treatment, along with any practicum experience with diverse populations, gives new candidates a concrete edge during the hiring process.
Which companies hire entry level psychiatric nurse practitioners?
Companies hiring entry level psychiatric nurse practitioners right now include LifeStance Health, Optum, and Wellpath, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. The hiring mix tends to include community mental health centers, telehealth providers, federally qualified health centers, and hospital systems that run structured onboarding programs suited to new graduates.
Are there remote entry level psychiatric nurse practitioner jobs?
Yes, though remote availability varies by state licensing requirements and employer. About 32% of entry level psychiatric nurse practitioner openings are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the strong growth in telepsychiatry platforms and virtual behavioral health services that actively recruit new graduates alongside more experienced clinicians.
Are these new grad psychiatric nurse practitioner jobs?
Yes, these listings include new grad, recent graduate, and junior psychiatric nurse practitioner roles. A posting is generally new-grad friendly when it explicitly welcomes zero to two years of post-certification experience, counts supervised clinical practicums toward experience requirements, or offers a structured orientation period, making it accessible to candidates coming directly out of a graduate program.
Which industries hire the most entry level psychiatric nurse practitioners?
Entry Level psychiatric nurse practitioner roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Education, and Non-Profit & Social Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. These sectors lead hiring at this level because of persistent workforce shortages in behavioral health, expanding insurance parity requirements, and growing demand for mental health services across outpatient, inpatient, and telehealth delivery models.
