Entry Level Speech Therapist Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level speech therapist job?
Start by completing your master's degree and clinical fellowship requirements, then highlight any practicum placements, volunteer work, or internship settings on your resume. Employers hiring at the entry level look for candidates who can demonstrate clinical hours across a range of communication disorders, a willingness to pursue licensure in their state, and strong collaboration skills with multidisciplinary teams. Tailoring your application to the specific setting, school, hospital, or clinic, gives you a clear edge.
Which companies hire entry level speech therapists?
Companies hiring entry level speech therapists right now include Optum, PruittHealth, and Novant Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a wide range of employers, including school districts, outpatient rehabilitation clinics, hospital systems, and early intervention programs, many of which actively seek new graduates who are completing or have recently completed their clinical fellowship year.
Are there remote entry level speech therapist jobs?
Yes, though most openings at this level are on-site or hybrid given the hands-on nature of clinical practice. About 3% of entry level speech therapist openings are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting growing demand for teletherapy services across school-based and outpatient settings. Candidates with experience delivering virtual sessions during clinical training may find these roles easier to land early in their career.
Are these new grad speech therapist jobs?
Yes, the roles on this page include new grad, recent graduate, and junior speech therapist positions. A new grad friendly posting typically welcomes candidates with zero to two years of experience, accepts clinical fellowship hours in place of independent work history, and values strong practicum or internship placements alongside a completed or in-progress state license. If a posting mentions CF supervision or mentorship, that is a strong signal it is open to new graduates.
Which industries hire the most entry level speech therapists?
Entry Level speech therapist roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Consulting & Professional Services, and Education, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. These sectors drive hiring at the entry level because demand for communication and swallowing disorder services is highest in educational and healthcare environments, where caseload growth and clinician shortages create consistent openings for candidates who are just beginning their careers.
