Entry Level Behavioral Health Specialist Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level behavioral health specialist job?
Employers hiring at the entry level prioritize candidates who completed supervised clinical hours, practicum placements, or internships in mental health or social services settings. A relevant bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, or counseling is the common baseline, and certifications like a Registered Behavior Technician credential give candidates a concrete edge. Tailor your resume to show direct client contact hours and any experience with treatment documentation or case management software.
Which companies hire entry level behavioral health specialists?
Companies hiring entry level behavioral health specialists right now include MaineHealth, SSM Health, and Community Health Center, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. At this level, hiring covers community mental health centers, residential treatment facilities, school districts, and healthcare systems that run structured onboarding programs for newer professionals.
Are there remote entry level behavioral health specialist jobs?
Yes, though most positions at this level involve in-person client care. About 5% of entry level behavioral health specialist openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, typically in roles focused on telehealth support, care coordination, or administrative case management rather than direct clinical services.
Are these new grad behavioral health specialist jobs?
Yes, the listings here include new grad, recent graduate, and junior behavioral health specialist roles. A posting is new-grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, counts internships or practicum hours toward the requirement, or accepts a relevant degree in place of full-time work history. Look for language like 'no experience required' or 'will train' as a clear signal the employer is open to candidates starting out.
Which industries hire the most entry level behavioral health specialists?
Entry Level behavioral health specialist roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Insurance, and Non-Profit & Social Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive hiring at the entry level because they rely on large support teams to deliver direct services, case coordination, and crisis intervention across diverse client populations.
