The Job
We need a hands-on painter/patcher who can also run quality control on the job. This isn't a desk role — you'll be up on the ladder mixing, patching, and rolling coats yourself, and you'll also be the one checking your own work (and the crew's) to make sure it holds up before it's called done. If you know coatings and surface repair inside and out, work clean, and take pride in a finish that doesn't need a redo, this is your seat.
What You'll Do
- Perform patching and surface repair work directly — mixing, applying, and finishing patch material to match existing surfaces with no visible sign of the repair
- Perform painting work directly — prep, prime, and apply coats per the approved paint system and finish schedule
- Check substrate condition, moisture content, and surface prep before any patch or coat goes on
- Confirm ambient temps, humidity, and weather conditions are within spec before starting any coating work
- Inspect your own and the crew's workmanship — no cloudiness, runs, sags, brush marks, or roller tracking
- Fill out a daily report on progress and quality checks, with photos
- Flag anything that doesn't look right before it gets covered or coated over, and fix it before moving on
- Keep work areas clean daily — no leftover materials, rags, or debris sitting around
What You Need
- Solid hands-on experience with both coating/painting and patching or surface repair work
- Working knowledge of paint systems (primers, intermediate coats, topcoats) and how to match a finish schedule
- Comfortable doing basic daily documentation — you'll be logging your own work, not just doing it
- Able to be on-site full time for the duration of the job
- Detail-oriented — you catch issues before they become problems, not after
