Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
The Technologist I-Radiology Main at North Mississippi Health Services is responsible for performing routine, emergency radiographic, surgical cases, and fluoroscopic procedures. Ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality diagnostic procedures, and assisting physicians and medical staff during exams. Technologists are responsible for reviewing patient information, charts, physicians orders, and previous images to plan and perform high quality exams. This role oversees safety compliance for patients, staff, and equipment. The Technologist must have strong knowledge of radiographic anatomy, stay updated on radiology protocols and changes through continuing education, and exhibit good communication skills while working with a variety of patient populations and work effectively within a team.
JOB FUNCTIONS
Perform routine and emergency radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures, including surgical imaging, in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
Conduct a variety of technical diagnostic procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative in support of disease diagnosis and treatment.
Provide timely, high-quality, and cost-efficient radiology services while organizing workflow to minimize delays.
Prepare and manage patients during imaging exams, adjusting techniques and accommodating individual needs.
Assist physicians and other medical staff during procedures as requested or required.
Serve a diverse patient population, including neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare team members to ensure coordinated care.
Deliver excellent customer service with accuracy and efficiency.
Accurately document patient information, imaging details, and contrast administration in EMR/PACS.
Troubleshoot imaging equipment and report malfunctions promptly.
Maintain knowledge of equipment, supplies, and positioning techniques used in radiological examinations.
Practice ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles to minimize radiation exposure.
Stay current with advancements and changes in radiology practices and technology.
Adhere to NMHS/NMMC policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Comply with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations, laws, and standards.
Ensure safety of patients, staff, and equipment during all procedures.
Participate in required in-services, annual reviews, and continuing education programs.
Take call as needed to support trauma, surgical, and stroke cases.
* Maintain readiness for high-volume, fast-paced trauma, neonatal, and surgical imaging scenarios.
Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
* Associate's Degree Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology program. Required
Licenses and Certifications
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). American Heart Association (AHA) CPR certification. Upon Hire. Required
Licensed Radiologic Technologist. License as required by State of Mississippi. Upon Hire. Required
* ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. registered or registry eligible. Upon Hire. Required
Work Experience
* 1-3 years. Experience working with trauma patients and surgery C-arm cases. Required
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Ability to comply with budgetary guidelines.
Ability to accurately and efficiently report equipment malfunctions or potentially hazardous conditions to the Supervisor or Bio-Med.
Ability to stay current with evolving radiological technology through continuing education and training.
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within the Radiology team.
Commitment to supporting team members and preventing workflow delays.
Ability to work accurately under stress and maintain attention to detail.
Flexibility to adapt to frequent workload changes.
Strong knowledge of radiographic anatomy.
Commitment to professional development through classes and continuing education.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
