Behavior Technician Jobs in Mississippi: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a behavior technician in Mississippi?
The most direct path is earning the Registered Behavior Technician credential, which requires completing a behavior analyst training curriculum, passing the RBT competency assessment, and submitting an application through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board. Mississippi does not issue a separate state license for behavior technicians, so the RBT credential is the recognized industry standard that most Mississippi employers expect. A high school diploma is the minimum education requirement, though many employers in Jackson and Hattiesburg prefer candidates with coursework in psychology, education, or human services.
Which companies hire behavior technicians in Mississippi?
Employers hiring behavior technicians in Mississippi right now include Colorful Minds, Garden of Genius ABA, and Shining Starz ABA, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Mississippi's public school systems and community mental health centers also hire behavior technicians regularly, particularly for school-based ABA and early intervention programs across the state.
Which Mississippi cities have the most behavior technician jobs?
Madison, Ridgeland, and Southaven have the most behavior technician openings in Mississippi. Jackson drives the largest share of listings as the state capital and home to the Mississippi Department of Mental Health headquarters, while Hattiesburg and the Gulf Coast's Gulfport-Biloxi metro attract openings through their regional hospital systems, university-affiliated clinics, and growing network of private ABA therapy providers.
Are there remote behavior technician jobs in Mississippi?
Yes, but they're rare. About 0% of behavior technician openings tied to Mississippi are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how hands-on the role is by nature. The portions of the work most likely to be conducted remotely are caregiver training sessions, parent consultation calls, and certain administrative or data review tasks, while direct therapy sessions with clients remain in-person.
How can I get hired as a behavior technician in Mississippi with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is applying directly for technician trainee or behavioral health aide roles at Mississippi Department of Mental Health-affiliated community mental health centers, which routinely hire candidates without prior ABA experience and provide on-the-job supervision toward RBT certification. Easterseals Mississippi and school district special education departments also bring in candidates from adjacent roles such as paraprofessional, direct support professional, or childcare aide positions. Completing the free RBT training curriculum and obtaining a basic CPR certification before applying gives candidates a clear advantage over those with no credentials at all.
Where can I find and apply to behavior technician jobs in Mississippi?
You can find and apply to behavior technician jobs in Mississippi on Migrate Mate, which lists current Mississippi openings from employers across the state. Search the available roles, identify the ones that match your credentials and location, and apply directly to whichever positions fit your situation.
