Behavior Technician Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a behavior technician in Texas?
To work as a behavior technician in Texas, you need to earn the Registered Behavior Technician credential through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board. The path requires completing the RBT Task List training, passing a competency assessment with a supervising BCBA, and passing the RBT exam. Texas does not issue a separate state license for this role, so the BACB credential is the standard hiring requirement across school districts, clinics, and home-based ABA providers statewide.
How much do behavior technicians make in Texas?
Behavior technicians in Texas earn a median of about $39,970 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $33,240 for the lowest 10% to over $49,250 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire behavior technicians in Texas?
Employers hiring behavior technicians in Texas right now include H2 Health, BlueSprig, and Maxim Healthcare, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's large population of school-age children with autism diagnoses and its extensive Medicaid waiver programs support consistent year-round hiring from both regional ABA practices and national providers with significant Texas footprints.
Which Texas cities have the most behavior technician jobs?
Salado, Harker Heights, and Magnolia have the most behavior technician openings in Texas. Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth lead because of their size and the concentration of large pediatric health systems, multi-site ABA clinic networks, and densely populated school districts with high demand for contracted ABA services, while San Antonio's military family population and growing health corridor drive steady hiring there as well.
Are there remote behavior technician jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. Behavior technician work is hands-on by nature and almost always requires direct in-person contact with clients in homes, schools, or clinical settings. About 0% of behavior technician openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions are typically limited to telehealth parent-training support or data review roles rather than direct therapy delivery.
How can I get hired as a behavior technician in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for an RBT trainee or behavior technician associate role at a multi-site ABA clinic, which will sponsor your RBT training and certification as part of onboarding. Providers like Behavioral Innovations and Autism Learning Partners run structured new-hire training cohorts in Texas specifically for candidates without prior ABA experience. A background in education, childcare, or direct support work is a common lateral move, and completing the free BACB RBT training modules before applying gives your application a clear edge.
Where can I find and apply to behavior technician jobs in Texas?
