Clinical Dietitian Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a clinical dietitian in Texas?
To become a clinical dietitian in Texas, you must earn the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist credential through the Commission on Dietetic Registration, which is the recognized standard for Texas employers and required for most hospital and clinical roles. The path starts with an accredited bachelor's or master's degree in dietetics or nutrition, followed by completing an ACEND-accredited supervised dietetic internship. Texas does not require a separate state license, so the RDN credential is the key qualification for practice.
How much do clinical dietitians make in Texas?
Clinical dietitians in Texas earn a median of about $74,440 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $40,040 for the lowest 10% to over $98,960 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire clinical dietitians in Texas?
Employers hiring clinical dietitians in Texas right now include Texas Children's Hospital, University Health, and Houston Methodist, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's large integrated health systems and specialized renal and oncology networks tend to drive the most consistent clinical dietitian hiring across the state.
Which Texas cities have the most clinical dietitian jobs?
Houston, San Antonio, and Sugar Land have the most clinical dietitian openings in Texas, driven by the concentration of major hospital systems, academic medical centers, and outpatient specialty clinics in those metros. Houston and Dallas in particular anchor large health networks that post clinical nutrition roles across multiple facilities and campuses.
Are there remote clinical dietitian jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. Clinical dietitian roles are primarily hands-on and facility-based, requiring direct patient assessment and coordination with care teams in person. About 0% of clinical dietitian openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions tend to focus on telehealth nutrition counseling or outpatient consultation rather than inpatient clinical work.
How can I get hired as a clinical dietitian in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to dietetic internship programs sponsored by large Texas health systems such as Baylor Scott & White Health or University of Texas-affiliated medical centers, which pair supervised clinical hours with a pathway toward full clinical dietitian roles. New graduates can also target diet technician or nutrition assistant positions at Texas hospital systems as a bridge, since many facilities promote internally once the RDN credential is completed. Completing a supervised internship with a Texas-based site strengthens local connections significantly.
Where can I find and apply to clinical dietitian jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to clinical dietitian jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across hospital systems, outpatient clinics, and specialty care settings. Find roles that fit your experience and credentials and apply directly to the employers posting them.
