Clinical Dietitian Jobs in Ohio: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a clinical dietitian in Ohio?
To become a clinical dietitian in Ohio, you must first earn a degree in dietetics or nutrition from an accredited program, complete a supervised dietetic internship, and pass the national registration exam administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration. Ohio then requires a separate state license through the Ohio Board of Dietetics before you can practice clinically. Most hospitals and health systems in Ohio will not extend a conditional offer without confirmed licensure eligibility.
How much do clinical dietitians make in Ohio?
Clinical dietitians in Ohio earn a median of about $69,530 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $36,970 for the lowest 10% to over $91,820 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire clinical dietitians in Ohio?
Employers hiring clinical dietitians in Ohio right now include Nationwide Children's Hospital, Kettering Health, and Summa Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Ohio's large integrated health systems and regional hospital networks drive the majority of full-time openings, with additional demand from long-term care and outpatient specialty clinics across the state.
Which Ohio cities have the most clinical dietitian jobs?
Columbus, Cleveland, and Dayton have the most clinical dietitian openings in Ohio. Columbus leads because of OhioHealth's and Nationwide Children's Hospital's large clinical footprints, Cleveland follows given the Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals systems, and Cincinnati benefits from TriHealth and UC Health anchoring the regional market along with several major long-term care operators.
Are there remote clinical dietitian jobs in Ohio?
Yes, but they're rare. Clinical dietitian roles are primarily hands-on, requiring bedside assessments, chart reviews, and direct patient contact in hospitals or clinics. About 10% of clinical dietitian openings tied to Ohio are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and the positions that do offer remote flexibility tend to involve telehealth nutrition counseling or outpatient consulting rather than acute care responsibilities.
How can I get hired as a clinical dietitian in Ohio with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for new-graduate clinical dietitian roles or diet technician positions at large Ohio health systems, which regularly onboard recent dietetic interns. OhioHealth, Cleveland Clinic, and Cincinnati Children's Hospital all run structured new-grad onboarding tracks for registered dietitians. Completing your Ohio Board of Dietetics licensure before your start date gives you a clear edge, and lateral moves from diet technician or nutrition assistant roles are a recognized path into clinical positions across Ohio facilities.
