Registered Nurse Jobs in Columbus: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a registered nurse job in Columbus?
Columbus hiring for registered nurses centers on its major health systems, including large academic medical centers, children's hospitals, and the growing network of outpatient surgery and urgent care clinics east of downtown. Candidates with ICU, emergency department, or behavioral health experience move fastest here. Applying directly through each health system's careers portal, alongside checking aggregated listings, gives you the broadest coverage of open Columbus positions.
Which companies hire registered nurses in Columbus?
Companies currently hiring registered nurses in Columbus include OhioHealth, American Traveler, and Nationwide Children's Hospital, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Columbus employers range from major academic medical centers and nationally recognized children's hospitals to regional urgent care networks and long-term care facilities spread across the metro.
Are there remote registered nurse jobs in Columbus?
Yes, but sparingly, bedside and clinical floor nursing roles require on-site presence by nature, while case management, utilization review, and triage nursing positions are the most remote-eligible. About 33% of registered nurse openings tied to Columbus are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the narrow segment of the role that translates to telehealth or administrative work. Insurance and managed-care employers in the Columbus metro tend to post the most remote-eligible nursing roles.
How can I get a registered nurse job in Columbus with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Columbus is a new-graduate residency program, which OhioHealth, Nationwide Children's Hospital, and other major health systems run on rolling or annual cycles specifically for nurses completing licensure. Medsurg and telemetry floors hire the most new graduates locally, and long-term care and rehabilitation facilities in the Westerville and Dublin suburbs often consider candidates with clinical rotations but limited paid experience. A Columbus-area externship during nursing school, completed at a health system you want to join, remains the strongest competitive edge.
Which industries hire the most registered nurses in Columbus?
Columbus registered nurse roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Columbus's position as Ohio's capital brings together a dense cluster of academic medicine, state government health agencies, and a rapidly expanding outpatient and specialty clinic market, all of which sustain consistent registered nurse demand across experience levels.
