Tips for Your Remote Finance Intern Job Search
Apply early to remote roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists remote finance intern openings from across the U.S. in one place, so you can find roles that match your background and apply directly. Remote postings fill fast, so checking regularly and applying as soon as a role opens matters.
Show async communication skills upfront
Remote finance teams rely on written updates, Slack threads, and structured handoffs instead of hallway conversations. Mention experience with async tools like Notion, Confluence, or Google Docs in your application, and write your cover letter in the same clear, direct style you would use on the job.
Build a financial model you can share
Remote employers can't watch you work, so a shareable DCF, three-statement model, or budget variance analysis gives them concrete evidence of your skills. Host it on Google Sheets or a portfolio site and link it in your application materials.
Prepare for a video-based interview process
Remote finance intern interviews often include a video screen, a take-home modeling or case exercise, and a final panel call. Test your audio and camera setup before any call, practice narrating your analytical thinking aloud, and expect to walk through your work sample on a shared screen.
Remote Finance Intern Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a remote finance intern job?
Target companies that already run distributed finance teams, including fintech startups, investment platforms, and corporate finance departments with remote-first policies, because they have the tooling and workflows to onboard remote interns successfully. Remote employers screen for self-direction, clear written communication, and comfort in async environments. Proficiency in Excel, Google Sheets, and financial modeling alongside a clean work sample or project gives you a concrete edge.
Which companies hire remote finance interns?
Employers currently hiring remote finance interns include OTIS, Uber, and Amgen, per current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Remote finance intern roles tend to concentrate at fintech companies, private equity firms, and corporate finance teams that have built distributed operations and regularly bring on interns to support live deal, reporting, or analysis work.
Can you get a remote finance intern job with no experience?
Yes, but remote entry-level finance intern roles are harder to land because employers expect you to work independently from day one with minimal hand-holding. You can offset a thin resume by showing a personal finance project, a completed financial modeling course, or volunteer bookkeeping work. Targeting smaller fintech startups and remote-first firms, which are less rigid on credentials, opens more doors at the entry level.
Do you need a degree for remote finance intern jobs?
Not always, though most remote finance intern roles list a business, accounting, or economics program as preferred. Remote employers weigh demonstrated skills heavily: financial modeling ability, Excel proficiency, and comfort with reporting tools like QuickBooks or Tableau can matter as much as a transcript. Completing a recognized financial modeling certification or showing real analytical work often compensates for an incomplete or non-traditional academic background.
Which industries hire the most remote finance interns?
The sectors hiring the most remote finance interns are Manufacturing and Technology & Software, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. These sectors hire finance interns remotely because their finance functions are built around distributed teams that use cloud-based tools and async workflows, making it practical to bring on interns without a physical office requirement.
