Tips for Your Remote Insurance Broker Job Search
List your licenses front and center
Hiring managers scan for your state property and casualty or life and health license before reading anything else. Put your active license lines, license numbers, and states of appointment at the top of your resume so they're impossible to miss.
Quantify your book of business
Brokers who name a dollar value for their managed book, renewal retention rate, or new premium written get far more callbacks than those who describe duties. Pull those figures from your most recent producer report and use them in every bullet.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists insurance broker openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Target openings by carrier appointment mix
Independent broker roles often list the carriers they're appointed with. If you already hold appointments with those carriers, name them explicitly in your application. It signals zero ramp-up time and saves the agency a contracting step they otherwise have to manage.
Prepare case studies for the sales interview
Most broker interviews include a role-play or scenario where you pitch a coverage solution to a mock client. Prepare two or three real examples where you identified a gap, recommended a product, and closed. Specifics about coverage type and client industry outperform generic sales stories.
Negotiate your split before accepting an offer
Commission structures vary widely across brokerages, from straight salary to tiered splits and equity. Ask for the full comp breakdown, including new business versus renewal splits and any desk fees, before you accept. Getting this in writing before your start date prevents disputes when your first policies renew.
Remote Insurance Broker Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a remote insurance broker job?
Target companies that already run distributed teams, since they hire remotely by default and know how to onboard someone they never meet in person. Remote insurance broker employers screen hard for self-direction and clear written communication on top of the core skills, so show evidence you can own work without someone over your shoulder. Apply to the openings above that match your experience.
Which companies hire remote insurance brokers?
Remote insurance broker roles are posted by Pacific Life, Risksmith Insurance Services, and Rippling and others right now, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Remote-first firms and large companies running distributed teams post the most remote insurance broker roles.
Can you get a remote insurance broker job with no experience?
Yes, but it is harder than an on-site role, because remote work expects you to operate independently from the start. Entry-level remote insurance broker openings do exist, especially at remote-first companies, and a portfolio of real work helps more than a long resume. Applying broadly to the roles that fit improves your odds.
Do you need a degree for remote insurance broker jobs?
Not always. Many employers hire remote insurance brokers on demonstrated skills and prior work rather than a specific degree, though some larger companies still prefer one. Showing relevant results matters more than a credential for most remote insurance broker roles.
Which industries hire the most remote insurance brokers?
The sectors hiring the most remote insurance brokers are Insurance, Technology & Software, and Banking & Financial Services, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. These sectors run distributed teams and hire insurance brokers remotely most consistently.
