Tips for Your Remote IT Support Job Search
Apply early to remote roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists remote it support openings from across the U.S. in one place. Search by role, find the openings that match your skills, and apply directly before postings fill. Remote roles at distributed companies often move fast.
Document your remote troubleshooting experience
Call out specific remote support tools you've used, such as remote desktop software, ticketing systems, or cloud admin consoles. Employers hiring for remote it support need to know you can diagnose and resolve issues without being in the room.
Show async communication skills up front
Remote it support runs on written handoffs, ticket documentation, and clear status updates. Mention experience writing runbooks, knowledge-base articles, or structured ticket notes. Employers treat your application writing as a preview of how you'll communicate on the job.
Get certified in the tools remote employers use
CompTIA A+, Network+, and Microsoft 365 or Azure fundamentals are the certifications remote hiring managers cite most. Adding one that aligns with the employer's stack moves your application past the initial screen faster than general experience alone.
Remote IT Support Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a remote it support job?
Target companies that operate fully remote or run distributed teams, since those employers are built for remote support workflows from day one. Remote hiring managers screen hard for written communication, self-direction, and async troubleshooting skills, so your application should show evidence of all three. Certifications like CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft 365 fundamentals give you a concrete edge over candidates with similar experience.
Which companies hire remote it supports?
Companies hiring remote it supports right now include Peoples Bank, Ballad Health, and Vytalize Health, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Remote-first software firms, managed service providers, and distributed healthcare organizations make up a large share of the employers posting these roles.
Can you get a remote it support job with no experience?
Yes, but remote entry-level roles are harder to land because employers expect you to troubleshoot independently from day one without in-person backup. Remote-first startups and managed service providers are the most likely to hire entry-level candidates. A home lab project, a CompTIA A+ certification, or documented volunteer IT work can substitute for formal experience and show you can operate without hand-holding.
Do you need a degree for remote it support jobs?
Not always. Remote employers hiring it supports weigh practical skills, certifications, and demonstrated troubleshooting ability more heavily than a four-year degree. CompTIA A+, Network+, or a Microsoft certification carries real weight in screening. Candidates who can show they've resolved real tickets, configured real environments, or supported real users remotely often move forward without any degree at all.
Which industries hire the most remote it supports?
The sectors hiring the most remote it supports are Technology & Software, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Those industries rely on distributed workforces and cloud-based infrastructure, which creates consistent demand for it supports who can deliver help-desk and systems support entirely online.
