Most Nevada employers require a doctoral degree in the relevant discipline, such as a PhD, EdD, or MD, plus several years of progressively senior research experience. Nevada does not issue a state license specifically for research directors, but clinical research roles may require compliance with Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners guidelines or IRB registration through an affiliated institution. Candidates typically advance through associate director or senior researcher roles before reaching director level.
How much do research directors make in Nevada?

Las Vegas dominates due to its concentration of health systems, UNLV's research enterprise, and the gaming industry's analytics operations, while Reno draws openings from Renown Health, the University of Nevada Reno, and technology companies that have relocated to the region.
Are there remote research director jobs in Nevada?
Yes, and more than many senior roles, since research directors in policy, data science, and program evaluation can often work remotely. About 0% of research director openings tied to Nevada are remote or hybrid as of November 2026, though clinical and laboratory-focused positions almost always require on-site presence. Fully remote openings tend to be concentrated in public health, social science, and technology research.
How can I get hired as a research director in Nevada with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is moving into a research coordinator or associate researcher role at a Nevada institution such as a UNLV or University of Nevada Reno research center, Renown Health, or a state agency like the Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health. These organizations hire research associates and program analysts who can build toward director-level roles.
