Description
Advanced Capabilities for National Security Institute (ACNSI), at Arizona State University is hiring for an exciting full-time Postdoctoral Associate position. Under the supervision of Dr. Jamie Gorman, Professor of HSE and Director of the Center for Human, Artificial Intelligence, and Robot Teaming (CHART), the postdoc will receive training, research experience, and opportunities to pursue externally funded research that will enable them to pursue a successful career in academia, government, or industry. This postdoc will contribute to the work in Dr. Gorman’s lab and CHART, which focuses on human-machine teaming and systems integration, dynamical systems-based team measurement, and teaming in complex real-world scenarios (e.g., medical, multi-domain, and space operations). Broadly, the position includes pursuing and obtaining external research funding with Dr. Gorman and other members of the CHART leadership team to develop novel research proposals for submission; assist leadership in preparing and publishing research articles, book chapters, and conference proceedings.

Essential Duties
- Designing, carrying out, analyzing, and reporting on original research projects related to measurement of team dynamics in human-AI-robot teaming in line with ongoing or new research projects.
- Authoring and presenting research products in research sponsor meetings/workshops, peer-reviewed journals, conferences, books, and workshops.
- Participation in or lead proposal preparation for external research funding including but not limited to DoW, NSF, ARL, AFRL.
- Optional opportunities for teaching courses in HSE may be provided but is not a requirement of the job.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- PhD in psychology, cognitive science, human factors, industrial engineering, nonlinear dynamics, computer science, or a related field.
Desired Qualififications
- PhD in human factors, industrial engineering, or a discipline relating to human-machine teaming/systems engineering.
- Experience with laboratory research with field research experience highly valued.
- Statistical and computational programming experience in R, MatLab, SAS, SPSS, Jscript, and/or Python.
- Research experience and a record of publications and research presentations.
- Research experience related to team cognition, dynamical systems, and/or human-AI-robot-teaming is highly valued.
- Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner in writing, presentations, and mentoring.
- Experience in programming machine learning is also highly valued.
