Entry Level Research Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level research job?
Entry level research employers look for candidates who can demonstrate analytical thinking, attention to detail, and familiarity with research methods, whether from coursework, internships, or independent projects. A clear writing sample, a well-documented class project, or a brief internship in a related field can give you a real edge. Tailor your resume to highlight data collection, literature review, or any hands-on fieldwork you have completed.
Which companies hire entry level researchers?
Companies hiring entry level researchers right now include Johns Hopkins University, TikTok, and Emory University, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. At this level, hiring comes from a wide range of employers, including consulting firms, nonprofits, academic institutions, and private-sector organizations that run in-house research teams and actively recruit candidates with little or no prior experience.
Are there remote entry level research jobs?
Yes, though on-site and hybrid roles still make up a significant share of the market. About 24% of entry level research openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, so candidates who need location flexibility have real options. Filtering by work setting when you search is the fastest way to find openings that match your preference.
Are these new grad research jobs?
Yes, these listings include new grad, recent graduate, and junior research roles. A posting is new-grad friendly when it explicitly welcomes zero to two years of experience, accepts internship or project work in place of full-time history, or asks for a portfolio rather than a long employment record. Look for language like "entry level," "recent graduates welcome," or "will train" as reliable signals.
Which industries hire the most entry level researchers?
Entry level research roles concentrate in Education, Healthcare & Medical Services, and Science & Research, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive hiring at this level because they rely on continuous data gathering, competitive analysis, and evidence-based decision-making, creating steady demand for junior researchers who can support senior teams from day one.
