Research Jobs in Raleigh: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a research job in Raleigh?
The strongest entry points in Raleigh are life sciences companies in Research Triangle Park, universities like NC State and Duke Health's Raleigh-area facilities, and the growing number of tech and data firms clustered in North Hills and Downtown. Candidates with hands-on lab experience, published work, or a graduate degree in a relevant field stand out. Networking through RTP-area research consortia and local professional associations also opens doors faster than applications alone.
Which companies hire researchs in Raleigh?
Companies currently hiring researchs in Raleigh include North Carolina State University, Optimapharm d.o.o., and Applied Research Associates, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Raleigh's employer mix ranges from large pharmaceutical and biotech firms anchored in Research Triangle Park to university medical centers, government agencies, and fast-growing tech companies requiring data and applied research talent.
Are there remote research jobs in Raleigh?
Yes, though availability depends heavily on the type of research work: analytical, computational, and social science roles are frequently remote-eligible, while lab-based or clinical roles almost always require on-site presence. About 29% of research openings tied to Raleigh are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting demand from tech and policy-focused employers in the area. Hybrid arrangements are especially common among Downtown Raleigh's consulting and government-adjacent organizations.
How can I get a research job in Raleigh with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Raleigh is securing a research assistant or associate role at one of the area's universities, including NC State or nearby UNC affiliates, or joining a contract research organization based in Research Triangle Park that routinely brings on junior staff for multi-year studies. Internships with RTP biotech firms, co-op programs through local engineering colleges, and volunteer positions with Raleigh-area nonprofits conducting policy or community research all build the documented experience employers expect before moving into independent research roles.
Which industries hire the most researchs in Raleigh?
The sectors hiring the most researchs in Raleigh are Education, Manufacturing, and Staffing & Recruiting, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Raleigh's position at the center of Research Triangle Park, one of the largest research and development hubs in the country, concentrates employer demand in those sectors and sustains a consistently active local hiring market.
