Research Jobs in Seattle: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a research job in Seattle?
Seattle's strongest hiring comes from life sciences companies in South Lake Union, academic research centers in the University District, and technology firms on the Eastside. Candidates with hands-on laboratory skills, data analysis experience, or a background in biomedical or computational research stand out. Connecting with local professional networks tied to UW Medicine, the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, or the Allen Institute can open doors that general applications do not.
Which companies hire researchs in Seattle?
Employers hiring researchs in Seattle right now include University Of Washington, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, and Amazon, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Seattle's research employer base is unusually deep, mixing global technology companies, nonprofit research institutes, and publicly funded academic medical centers, giving candidates a broader range of sectors and funding models than most U.S. cities.
Are there remote research jobs in Seattle?
Yes, though it depends heavily on the role, since hands-on lab and clinical research positions require on-site presence while data, literature review, and computational research roles are far more remote-compatible. About 16% of research openings tied to Seattle are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the city's strong technology sector. Computational biology, bioinformatics, and research coordination roles are the most likely to offer flexible arrangements locally.
How can I get a research job in Seattle with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Seattle is a research assistant or lab technician role at one of the city's academic medical centers or nonprofit institutes, where entry-level hiring is steady and structured. The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, UW Medicine, and the Allen Institute regularly bring in junior researchers and coordinators. Volunteer or internship experience with any Seattle research program, paired with proficiency in standard data or lab tools, gives candidates a meaningful edge over applicants with only coursework.
Which industries hire the most researchs in Seattle?
Seattle research roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Science & Research, and Electronics & Hardware, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Seattle's position as both a major technology hub and a leading biomedical research center creates overlapping demand, meaning researchers with cross-disciplinary skills in areas like computational biology or health data are especially competitive in the local market.
